Tomaz draws on a wine growing heritage stretching back to 1918. Their 16 hectare vineyard stretching from the slopes of the medieval hilltop town of Motovun is home to autochthonous Istrian Malvasia, Teran, and Muscat grapes as well as a nonnative Merlot variety. Enchanting mists can often be found swirling around the foot of the hillside in the morning, a mystical manifestation of the area’s microclimate. Mediterranean and Continental air coalesces creating a peculiar discrepancy between daytime and nighttime temperatures favorable for ripening quality grapes enriched with intense and aromatic flavour.
