When Josip Franković followed his heart from central Istria north to the town of Buje near the Gulf of Trieste and the Slovenian border, he carried his love and family tradition of wine production with him. When it came time to start his own chapter in the Franković legacy, Josip carefully selected an unusually gentle tract of land with a rich soil of limestone and clay. There, he pressed every drop of his experience, education, and character into his new winery. Today, he is supported by his wife and children, affirming the proverb that the grape does not fall far from the vine.
The winery’s equine logo is not only a symbol for Josip Franković’s passion for horses and horseriding, but also a symbol of the reciprocal collaboration between man and nature required to make world-class wines.
